Elizabeth at 90: A Family Tribute on Netflix
This is a 90 minute documentary celebrating the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth of Britain. It consists mostly of family movies commented on by members of the royal family, including the Queen herself. Apparently the royal family have always been huge fans of taking home movies – who would have guessed?
This is a warm and fuzzy documentary with an emphasis on showing that the royal family is an actual family. Although Prince Harry does slip and admit that he normally thinks of the Queen as his “boss” first and his grandmother second. The whole documentary actually makes more sense if you think of this as a family who operate a family business – with royalty being the business.
Still, there is some interesting stuff here, including footage of a young Queen on official visits to India and Tonga.
If you have Netflix, this is available to you for free, and it is also airing on some PBS stations for free.
